Chauffeuring App 'Uber' Offers Christmas Tree Deliveries on Thursday
By Ian Bush
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Transporting a Christmas tree can be a tough task if you live in the city with no vehicle at your disposal.
But now, a popular car service app wants to help.
Normally, you'd use the smartphone app "Uber" to order a sedan or SUV for the night. But now, it's chauffeuring Christmas trees.
For a total of $135, a netted Frazer Fir, seven to eight feet tall and fixed with a stand, will be delivered from Home Depot to your door.
Just like with Uber rides, no cash exchanges hands -- it's all electronic. The company is offering an option for roommates or co-workers to split the cost of the tree.
The deal is (tomorrow) Thursday only, and Uber warns that availability is limited.
The free app works with Android, Apple, and Blackberry.
