Charles Barkley: Best Player In NBA Draft Not Simmons Or Ingram
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former Sixers player and current sports analyst Charles Barkley was on the Mike and Ike Show on SportsRadio WIP Thursday morning.
He weighed in on a variety of topics, including whether the Sixers should draft Simmons or Ingram with their number one overall pick.
"I like Brandon Ingram. It's just what flavor you like. I like his ability to get his shot. The Simmons kid worries me a little bit... He doesn't want to play in the Olympics. Who doesn't want to play in the Olympics?" He continued, "What better way to prepare for the NBA then to play with and against NBA players. Working out on his own isn't going to happen... It can only help him. I'm concerned he doesn't like to play. That's what concerns me."
But if the decision were up to him, Barkley may not go Simmons or Ingram.
"I think the best player in the draft is that kid from Providence, Kris Dunn. I think he's the best player coming out who is ready to play, who is going to make an immediate impact."
As for some of the current players on the team, when it comes to Okafor, Embiid and Noel, Barkley thinks Nerlens is going to go somewhere "soon."
"The problem I have with the Sixers trying to trade Okafor is they don't even know if Embiid can play. Just because he is shooting around... that's not NBA basketball, and I like Embiid, but he has to prove he can stay healthy for at least a year."
