Chad Johnson Is Coming To Philadelphia, But Will He Stay?
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ever since he was released by the Miami Dolphins, Chad Johnson (formerly Chad Ochocinco, formerly Chad Johnson), has seemed sort of sad and desperate for attention on Twitter. His tweets about Philadelphia could be more of the same, but they come at an interesting time.
Johnson tweeted the following in the last 24 hours:
@ochocinco: Any good soul food spots in Philly...
@ochocinco: 5 hours past my bed time... if I miss this flight to Philly in the morning it'd definitely be a pisstified moment...
The Eagles are banged up at the wide receiver position. Riley Cooper hasn't played yet this season due to a broken collarbone, DeSean Jackson played last week but suffered a strained hamstring days before the game, and Jeremy Maclin re-aggravated a hip pointer during Sunday's game against the Ravens and is unlikely to practice on Wednesday.
Still, it seems unlikely the Eagles would be interested in Johnson, who has been without a team since his domestic violence arrest in August. Johnson was accused of head-butting his wife.
"No, no, no, no," an NFL source told 94WIP's Howard Eskin, when asked if the Eagles were interested in Johnson.
Johnson, 34-years old, is an eleven year NFL vet, who played for the New England Patriots in 2011. Johnson had trouble assimilating to the Patriots system, and only caught 15 passes on the season. Johnson has been to the Pro Bowl six times, most recently in 2009.
