Ceremony To Take Place At Korean War Memorial
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The true meaning of Memorial Day seems to be fading into the distant past, according to the president of the Philadelphia Korean War Memorial.
"Spend the time be it in a cemetery or a parade, or just a gathering of family members to remember those who gave their lives for our country," said William Kelly.
The Philadelphia Korean War Memorial - with names of those military personnel from the Philadelphia area who lost their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq.
"We make sure that we keep abreast of what is happening and we have their names inscribed immediately so the family has a place to go."
He says all are invited to a memorial day ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Korean War Memorial at 2nd and Dock Streets.
