VOORHEES, NJ (CBS) - It's the 5th Annual Cancer Survivors Day at Cooper Cancer Institute, "and it's a celebration of cancer survivorship," according to Dr. Generosa Grano, director of the Cooper Cancer Institute.
She says each year the hospital celebrates folks at various stages of their cancer diagnosis.
"The definition of cancer survivorship is someone living with or through or post cancer diagnosis. So, some of these are newly diagnosed, some of them are going through chemotherapy, radiation. Some of them are long-term survivors, 10, 15 year survivors."
About 550 people were here at Survivors Day. Among them, Claudius Charles, a prostate cancer survivor. "They've come a long way with cancer," says Charles. "So don't really think of it, just do what you have to do to survive. Take your treatment and you'll be alright."
