CDC: Melanoma Rates Have Doubled Over Last 30 Years
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Rates of melanoma have doubled over the last 30 years.
In report released Tuesday by the CDC, the organization says melanoma is responsible for more than 9,000 skin cancer deaths in the U.S. each year.
Health experts say more than 90 percent of melanoma skin cancers are due to UV radiation exposure from the sun.
They say skin protection could prevent 230,000 melanoma cases over a decade.
