CDC Investigates Sick Passenger For Possible Ebola At NJ Airport
NEWARK, N.J. (CBS) - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention investigated a sick passenger at Newark Liberty International Airport for possible Ebola Saturday that turned out to be unrelated.
Port Authority officials said an unidentified passenger on board United Flight 998 coming in from Brussels was vomiting aboard the plane.
The passenger, reportedly from Liberia, was traveling with his daughter.
After landing in Newark around 1 p.m., authorities sealed the plane at Gate 54 and quarantined the other 255 passengers and the plane's crew. The plane was kept on the tarmac for over an hour as officials investigated.
The sick passenger was taken to a local hospital where officials determined he was not suffering from Ebola.
Instead, it was determined he had a minor treatable condition and will be released with continued monitoring.
