Caught On Tape: 7-Eleven Employee Injured In Violent Hit & Run
YEADON, Pa. (CBS) -- After seeing a report on Eyewitness News, several citizens have come forward to help police identify the driver in a shocking hit and run in Delaware County that was caught on tape. Now police are urging the driver to surrender.
Police tell Eyewitness News it was the passenger, who can be seen getting out of the car and walking away from the crash, who saw the video on TV, came forward and spoke with Yeadon police.
According to sources, she helped police identify the driver as 32-year-old Willaisha Rankins of Upper Darby.
Police at this point say there is not an arrest warrant out for Rankins.
"My advice to her is, we are not going to go away. She needs to step forward and deal with this situation. The best method would be to contact the police department," said Yeadon Police Det. Sgt. David Splain.
Surveillance cameras captured the violent incident around 10:30 p.m. June 9. Gejea Ejeta, 24, can be seen taking out the garbage in front of the 7-Eleven store on Church Lane, when out of nowhere he is struck by a car, sending him right through the window.
In the aftermath of the crash, one passenger can be seen causally exiting the vehicle and walking away, while another jumps from the backseat. The passenger from the backseat can be seen returning to the car before fleeing.
Yeadon police are hoping to track down all three individuals, and the vehicle.
"It's a newer model Dodge Caliber, four door and silver in color," said Detective Sgt. Splain. "Surprisingly, based on the video, there is very little damage to the front of the vehicle."

Amazingly, despite the violent collisions, Ejeta, an Ethiopian who has been working at the 7-Eleven for two months, survived with only a sore leg and a bruised hip.
