Catholic School Students Bus From Philadelphia For 'School Choice' Rally
HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- Catholic school students from the Philadelphia area are joining students from around the state today in a "school choice" rally in Harrisburg.
The students want the Pennsylvania House to take up the bill backed by Gov. Corbett and already passed by the state senate that would provide vouchers to low-income students at failing schools.
John Cole, a junior at Archbishop Ryan High School, was among those on a bus trip to Harrisburg for the rally.
"I really like Archbishop Ryan," he said, "I believe it's a great education and I wouldn't go to any other school. But if I lived in a different area and I believed the education wasn't good enough, yes, I would go to another school to get a better education."
The voucher bill is currently in the House Education Committee, but no imminent action is expected.
