Cataldi's 5 Reasons To Be Nervous For Sunday's Eagles v. Jags Game
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- 94WIP Morning Show host, Angelo Cataldi, thinks the Eagles are going to win the Super Bowl. He's on the record, saying the Eagles will go 12-4 and win the Super Bowl this season.
The Eagles open the season on Sunday as double-digit favorites, at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Seems like as close to a sure-win as you could get in the NFL, but it's the opener, and anything can happen. Having said that, here are Cataldi's five reasons to be nervous about Sunday's Eagles opener.
5. The referees
"They can equalize the game if they're calling ticky-tack stuff like in the regular season," Cataldi said of the NFL refs on Friday. "If you have a weaker crew, they might try to run with that whole stupid premise they were doing in the preseason, calling a penalty every time somebody touched someone."
4. Nick Foles
"You know why I'm putting him on that list, Rhea [Hughes]?" Cataldi asked. "Everyone once in awhile he does throw in a clunker. That Dallas game last year was awful. The preseason opener this year was awful. I don't expect it, but if he were to toss in a clunker in the season opener, it would open all sorts of levels of concerns, number one. But number two, it would give the Jaguars a chance to pull off a major upset."
3. The defense
"The defense should be much better this year," Cataldi said. "But how much better? Chad Henne is a rag-arm quarterback. Chad Henne last year had 13 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions. So the defense, I'm concerned only to the extent---I don't want to see what happened at the end of the playoff game, where they just kind of collapsed. I need the defense to be a solid defense."
2. Cody Parkey
"Two weeks ago I would not of even been able to identify the name, but now I may well be placing in his foot, the outcome of a football game," Cataldi said. "Whenever he lines up a field goal on Sunday, I'm going to be a little more nervous than usual. Who? Cody Parkey? Really?"
1. It's the opener
"A lot of weird stuff happens in the first game of a season," Cataldi said. "Jacksonville right now thinks they're good. I know they were 4-12 [last season], but they don't have any losses yet. They're coming in here going, 'You know what, we had a very fine preseason.'
I don't want Jacksonville to get an early lead and think they're good."
Ultimately, Cataldi thinks none of this matters, as he predicted a 37-14 Eagles win over the Jaguars.
