Case Of Man Who Murdered Girlfriend In 2005 Coming To A Close
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The prosecution is winding down in the case of Philadelphia man accused of murdering his girlfriend, a mother of three, and then dumping the body in the Pinelands in 2005.
The prosecution alleges 47-year-old Glenn Hansen killed 27-year-old Taneke Daniels to silence her because she had filed charges claiming he had assaulted her. A crucial witness in the case is the defendant's sister, who says her brother confessed to her, in chilling detail, that he had put a pillow over Taneke's head and smothered her.
But the defense, citing an initial statement from the sister, contends Daniels died of a drug overdose, and Hansen buried her body because he didn't want to get in trouble.
A medical examiner testifying for the prosecution has classified it a homicide by undetermined means. Hansen has pleaded not guilty. The defense is expected to present medical testimony next week.
