Case of 2 Accused Phila. Cop Killers Moves Closer To Trial

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The two suspects in the shooting death of Philadelphia police officer Robert Wilson III today waived their right to a preliminary hearing.
Courtroom 305 of the Criminal Justice Center was packed, and so was the nearby hallway as dozens of officers showed up to support Wilson's family.
Inside, prosecutors were prepared to present a pile of new evidence and video of the fatal March incident at a Game Stop store in North Philadelphia.
"As a result of the fact that there's overwhelming evidence at this point, and my client is remorseful, it seemed appropriate to waive the preliminary hearing," said defense attorney Andres Jalon, who represents Ramone Williams.
Jalon says they didn't want to subject Wilson's family to the pain of watching the shooting on video.
Williams and co-defendant Carlton Hipps are due in court June 10th. Jalon says they are in contact with the DA's office and there's still a possibility of a plea deal.
