Case Against Pa. Sen. LeAnna Washington May Be Wrapping Up

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- The political corruption case against embattled Pennsylvania state senator LeAnna Washington appears to be moving closer to some sort of resolution.
The lawmaker, who represents portions of Philadelphia and Montgomery counties, was scheduled for a pretrial conference this morning in Norristown. The attorneys were there, but Washington was nowhere to be found.
Sources tell KYW Newsradio that she was excused, but no explanation was offered.
After a brief conference with the prosecution and defense, Judge Steven O'Neill told defense attorneys to talk to their client and return on Friday.
At that point, he says, he'll want to know whether Washington will plead guilty to the charges against her or whether the case will go to trial.
Washington is accused of using state senate staffers to plan campaign fundraisers. Two months after the charges were filed, Washington was defeated in the primary election.
