Career Management Consultant Aims To Teach New Rules Of The Current Job Market
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's a whole new ballgame in the job market and a book by a career management consultant aims to teach you the rules.
Here's the bad news from R. William Holland, author of Cracking the New Job Market: The 7 Rules for Getting Hired in Any Economy, big-time job growth is going to be a long time in coming. The good news is, firms are hiring. The trick is to make them want to hire you. A negative example - a man in pharmaceutical sales giving prominence to his doctorate.
"He got zero interest. People avoided him like the plague. he didn't give the hiring managers a compelling set of reasons as to why he should be hired. As nice as a PhD in English literature is, it had not relevancy to what the employer was interested in."
Holland also lays out tips on using social networks to be in contact with virtually everybody.
