Carbon Monoxide Scare Forces Evacuation Of Concordville Hotel
CONCORDVILLE, Pa. (CBS) -- More than a hundred guests were evacuated from a hotel overnight in Concordville, Delaware County after a carbon monoxide scare.
It was around 12 a.m. Tuesday when fire crews responded to a CO alarm at the Best Western Hotel along the 700 block of Baltimore Pike.
Officials say firefighters arrived to find high levels of carbon monoxide inside the laundry area of the basement of the hotel. Elevated levels were also detected on the first, second and third floors.
Approximately 120 guests and workers were moved from the hotel to an adjacent building in a conference center as crews repaired the leak in a heater.
"We were out for a little while," said a guest. "They had to get somebody down here to open the restaurant, so it took 15-20 minutes for that to happen. But they did have vans out and the ambulances opened their doors, so they did everything they could."
No injuries were reported. All of the guests were able to return to their rooms a couple of hours later.
