Car Strikes Pedestrian Before Flying Into Delaware River
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a car that ended up going into the Delaware River early Friday morning.
The incident began at about 2 a.m. when a car exited the I-95 off-ramp at Columbus Boulevard.
Investigators say the out-of-control car struck a pedestrian before eventually flying into the Delaware River.
The unidentified pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where they are listed in critical condition.
The driver was rescued from the water and was taken to a local hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
Police believe speed may have been a factor in causing the driver to lose control. A tow truck operator eventually pulled the car from the river.
It was not immediately known if any charges were filed. The incident remains under investigation.
