Car Crashes Into House In Delco Causing Gas Leak, Evacuations
DARBY, Pa. (CBS) – A car hit a gas meter when it crashed into a house Saturday, causing a gas leak in Darby, Delaware County, according to authorities.
This happened around 4:15 p.m. at the home located on the 400 block of Darby Terrace when a driver reportedly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake while parallel parking.
Crews were forced to evacuate the block until the gas leak could finally be contained. People are now allowed back in their homes.
One officer was reportedly taken to the hospital after being sickened by the fumes. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
The house did not sustain any damage.
The incident remains under investigation.
