Cancer Expert Suggests Gift Ideas For Your Loved One With Cancer
By Lynne Adkins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Shopping for that perfect anniversary gift isn't easy, especially when your loved one is suffering through cancer treatment.
If you don't feel well, it's hard to get excited about anything--especially a gift you may not need or want, that puts extra pressure on the gift giver. So put some thought into it!
Soft cotton pajamas are useful and comfy. A yoga mat and instruction can leave the patient feeling less stressful and relaxed. And Brice Corbin, the supervisor of patient relations at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia, suggests a cookbook geared toward cancer patients.
"It's hard to get cancer patients to eat in general in a lot of cases, because they don't have the appetite. Here, we try to be very creative with different kinds of recipes that appeal to the patient," Corbin says.
Another suggestion is a gift to a day spa, where the person can get a manicure and pedicure or massage and facial.
