Can Temple Make It 2-0 On Saturday?
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Temple Owls won the Mayor's Cup last Friday, as they hammered Villanova 41-10 in their season opener. On Saturday, the Owls welcome Maryland to the Linc as they look to run their record to 2-0.
Temple actually played Maryland last season down in College Park and completely annihilated them, winning 38-7 in a game that may not have even been that close.
Bernard Pierce had five touchdown runs in last year's win. Obviously, Pierce won't be playing Saturday as he gets ready to make his NFL debut with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. But Temple showed their running game is doing just fine as they rolled up 301 yards on the ground in the Villanova win with Matt Brown leading the way with 145 yards.
Maryland will come to town with a 1-0 record, but they really struggled to get it, holding off FCS William and Mary, 7-6. The Terrapins compiled just 236 yards of offense against the Tribe.
