Campbell Soup Company Employees Bring Holiday Cheer To Needy Families In Camden
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - Needy families throughout Camden can expect welcomed gifts this holiday season – all thanks to two local organizations.
On Friday, volunteers from Campbell Soup Company helped organizers from the Center for Family Services load vans with hundreds of gifts for delivery to needy families. It was all part of an annual Adopt-A-Family donation event that is now in its 17th year.
"At Campbell, volunteering is part of our DNA. We're committed to giving back to the community," said Amanda Baumann, Campbell's Manager of Community Service. "This year, we're proud to once again partner with the Center for Family Services, to help homeless families, teens and children during the holidays."
The gifts and necessity items, such as beds, will be delivered to families living in shelters just in time for Christmas.
The Adopt-A-Family program supports the Center for Family Services which provides services for more than 90,000 individuals throughout Camden County in seven youth shelters and more than 40 programs providing in-home, school and community outreach services to those in need. This year, employees had the opportunity to adopt a shelter, a family or an individual and purchase items directly from a "wish list."
"Many families continue to struggle in this down economy," said Richard Stagliano, president and CEO of Center for Family Services. "The generosity of our partners like Campbell Soup Company will help make the holidays a little less difficult this time of year."
