Camelot Schools' Plan To Move Into Germantown HS Building Hits A Snag
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Plans to bring new life to the just-closed Germantown High School building have taken a detour.
Camelot Schools, an alternative education company, planned to consolidate its three locations into one leased location at Germantown High.
But school district spokesman Fernando Gallard says that won't happen by the first day of school September 9.
"Camelot has requested some facility improvements," Gallard said. "We will need more time in order to make those facility improvements."
Camelot spokesman Kirk Dorn says the district couldn't assure them the building was safe.
"Our plans are still up in the air," Dorn said. "We still hope to move to Germantown at some point. It's just not clear when that will be."
For now, Dorn says, the 800 Camelot students will attend classes at Camelot campuses in north, and northeast Philadelphia.
