Camden, NJ Turns To Secret Video To Catch Illegal Polluters

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Authorities in Camden have a warning for illegal dumpers: you are being watched.
It's a crackdown on people who dump everything from tires, construction debris, furniture, even dogs and cats on the vacant lots and streets of Camden, NJ.
Now, the city has used previous forfeiture funds to buy motion-activated video cameras with night vision, to catch future dumpers in the act.

Camden mayor Dana Redd stood in front of one illegal dumpsite at 28th Street and Adams Avenue today, to make the city's goal clear:
"We will no longer tolerate individuals, contractors, businesses, and everyone in between that desire to use Camden as a personal dump site," she said.
Police say nine people have already been arrested at three illegal dumpsites so far under what they're calling "Operation Hawkeye."
Authorities are looking for at least four other individuals who have been caught on camera illegally dumping trash along the street.
