Camden, NJ Heralds Coming of Replacement Street Lighting
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- The City of Camden is teaming up with electric utility PSE&G to address a pair of public safety problems: the theft of street lights, and the darkness their absence leaves behind.

The choir at Cooper's Poynt School (above) was getting its wish, as four blocks of State Street in North Camden and several blocks along Park Boulevard in the Parkside neighborhood are getting about 50 new streetlamps to replace those vandalized in recent years.
Mayor Dana Redd (right) says the new lights will contain copper identifyable to scrap metal dealers as stolen, so they won't accept them for cash. But, she says, neighbors also need to help.
"If you see someone working on a light that does not have a PSE&G uniform on or a PSE&G truck, we are asking that you contact us immediately," she said.
Plans are to expand the program citywide.
