Camden High School Getting Major Structural and Technical Upgrades

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Camden High School is about to get a major makeover, thanks to millions in state funds.
Governor Chris Christie, in announcing the grant today, conceded that the half-century-old building needs a lot of work.
"The state will invest at least 50 million dollars from the SDA [Schools Development Authority] Capital Project Fund to rehabilitate this iconic building," he said, to bring it in line with the needs of the 21st century.
In addition to structural repairs, the project will bring in robust Internet service.
Future plans are to provide four course paths through the school, including one that covers vocational and technical training.
Officials say it will take a while to get the plans drawn up, but some real changes should start to show up at Camden High in two to three years.
