Camden County Veterans Remembered At Memorial Day Weekend Ceremony

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- 16 Camden County veterans who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan were honored in a Memorial Day weekend ceremony at Harleigh Cemetery.
Reverend Floyd White, director of Camden County Veterans Affairs, estimates there's a projected 24,000 veterans throughout Camden County.
"With all the people in the county," he says, "from the Vietnam era to the Korean era to WWI, WWII and Iraq and Afghanistan, there are a lot of veterans in this community that we need to really pay tribute to."
And for those veterans still living, White says it's important to note that there are a variety of benefits and all kinds of assistance programs available. He says his office can help them obtain those benefits.
"We've got the guaranteed housing loans," Whites says. "You've also got the VA eligibility for pension, compensation, we have the county ID, as well as an opportunity to look at the burial properties here at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden, New Jersey where we have a veterans cemetery."
