Camden County Launching Program For Residents To Borrow Tools In A Push To Go Green
By Kristen Johanson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Spring is almost just around the corner and it will soon be time to break out the clippers and trim up the greens in your yard.
Maybe you need special hand tool for a wood working project, or a pitchfork to loosen soil for herb planting. Camden County is launching a new program for residents to borrow tools for projects just like this.
"People can come, create a membership and then pick and choose whichever tools they may need."
Director of Sustainability, Chris Waldron, says you can borrow tools, rather than books, in this library.
"To start out small hand tools, lawn equipment, extension ladders, things that people may need only once a year or once in a very long time."
He says it's part of the county's push to go green. Other programs include a bike share and green houses, all part of reducing costs and waste.
"We're really relying on donations for most of what we are going to supply to people."
They hope to have the library up and running by June.
