DRPA: Component To Construction Work Fell From Ben Franklin Bridge
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --A Delaware River Port Authority spokeswoman, Fran O'Brien, confirmed that a component to construction work being done on the PATCO train tracks that run on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, fell this afternoon.
Around 12 p.m., a piece of the safety equipment that goes under the rail fell onto I-676 WB where it splits from I-95 NB.
The metal component was being used in the installation of a temporary work platform under the bridge. It was not part of the bridge and the bridge is not effected.
The component did fall on a car and cause an accident, but no injuries were reported.
I-676 westbound was shut down for a half an hour after the incident.
The DRPA say they are investigating.
