Byron McDonald Facing Murder Charges For Shooting Deaths Of Son's Mother, Grandmother
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local man is now charged with the murders of his son's mother and grandmother. Police say Byron McDonald shot and killed 50-year-old Tamara Aikens and 25-year-old Morgan Braxton.
Braxton is the mother of the suspect's 3-year-old son.
Family members say Braxton feared for her safety.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner spoke to domestic violence victims Friday.
"They should go to family, they should go to neighbors, they should go to a place of safety. They should do whatever they can to get out of that situation," Krasner said.
McDonald was taken into custody after an Amber alert was issued for the son he shared with Braxton.
McDonald and the child were found earlier this month at a hotel near the airport.
