Ocean City, N.J. Businesses Boom During Memorial Day Weekend
OCEAN CITY, N.J. (CBS) - The crowds in Ocean City savored the holiday weekend as long as possible, enjoying the last hours of warm Memorial Day weather.
"We waited all winter for summer and finally it's here and we're going to enjoy it," laughed Sam Demetro who was visiting Ocean City with his grandkids from Northeast Philadelphia.
Sunshine drenched the Jersey Shore all weekend, driving people to the beach. And without a drop of rain, it was the vacation weekend everyone had in mind.
Portia Trisler says it is a sad holiday for her since she serves in the National Guard and has friends who lost their lives in the service.
"It's a day to remember a lot of my battle buddies I've lost over the last four years," said Trisler.

Boardwalk businesses saw a boost in sales to start the summer season. Stores were packed when people needed a break from the beach.
"We had high expectations because when it's a cold winter, it tends to be a busy Memorial Day weekend," says Don Milora.
If Memorial Day weekend is an indication of what is ahead, beachgoers say it will be a summer to remember.
