Business Expert Shares Tips On Holiday Work Party Etiquette
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - 'Tis the season for holiday work parties. A business expert says have fun, but be careful not to overdo it.
"Look proper and act proper," says Michael Alleruzzo, an instructor in the Department of Management at St. Joseph's University. He says it's important, even if the party is off-site.
"Your professional and personnel reputation is always on display and the people who get into trouble are the people who behave like it's spring break."
He says don't drink too much, watch your mouth and look out for those cameras.
"If I have a drink in hand, I try to hide that drink because I've seen pictures of myself and others and people look more professional when they are not holding a drink."
He says if you can go, you should go to the gathering to show your appreciation.
"It's a couple hours, a few hours at most. Go enjoy. Your company is putting out money for this. They are trying to do this as a thank you."
