Burst Water Pipe Closes One Parkway Tower For Second Day in a Row

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Center City office tower, which houses nearly two-thousand city workers, will be closed for a second day in a row Thursday.
Crews are working to fix the elevator system, damaged by water from a burst pipe Tuesday night (See Previous Story).
One Parkway at 1515 Arch Street is closed again and city officials say crews will be working through the holiday weekend, with the hopes of getting folks back in when the work week begins Monday.
1,900 city employees with DHS, the departments of Commerce and Parks and Rec work there.
Crews are trying to repair the water damaged elevators caused by a broken pipe says city Public Property Commissioner Bridget Collins-Greenwald.
"What it did was fry some of the control panels. So, that's what we're working on now, doing an assessment of what parts we need to fix those control panels to get the elevators absolutely functional."
Essential employees will be able to get in between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday to get what they need to work out of the office.
