Bucks County School District Prepares Students For The Unthinkable
By Paul Kurtz
LEVITTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - With the start of the school year just a week away, a school district in Bucks County was preparing for the worst possible scenario Friday.
It's a sad sign of the times, but as the number of school shootings continues to rise, administrators can't look away.
At Truman High School, authorities put into motion a live shooter drill they've been planning for nearly a year.
"This is an opportunity for us to put our emergency preparations and plan through its paces without compromising the safety of our students," Bristol Township School Superintendent Sam Lee said.
Members of the school's drama club played the victims of a man who methodically shoots anyone he can find after he guns down the principal.
"It's the reality of the world we live in I guess," Lee said. "You know how things like this are necessary. I wish they weren't."
Teachers preparing their classrooms had to react as well after being given a vague warning.
