Bucks County Police Department Warns Of 'Felony Lane Gang' Targeting Parked Cars Near I-95
NEWTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Newtown, Bucks County are warning citizens about a group dubbed as the "Felony Lane Gang" that is targeting parked cars along I-95.
According to police, the Felony Lane Gang is a group of thieves from Broward County in South Florida who travel up and down I-95 and target vehicles in parking areas where moms are most likely to thieve their wallet or purse.
Police say first several men enter the parking lot at the same time, typically break the window of the vehicle, steal the wallet, purse or diaper bag and then leave in under a minute.
Authorities say women then take the identification, credit card and bank checks, alter their appearance to match the victim and use rented cars to go through the outer lane (or the "felony lane") of the drive thru.
Police are urging drivers to be mindful of their valuables and to keep them out of sight even if you're only away for a minute.
