Bucks County High School Teacher Arrested For Sexually Abusing Female Student, Prosecutors Say
NEW HOPE, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities are searching for more potential victims of a Bucks County teacher. Kevin Elvey II was charged with sexually abusing a student in 2005.
He was only suspended from New Hope-Solebury High School this past June -- 14 years later.
The victim came forward to police in June and if convicted, her former teacher may never be allowed back at the high school.
"This is a parent's worst nightmare," Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said.
Elvey is used to standing in front of a classroom, but the honors teacher stood in front of a police camera for a mug shot Wednesday, after authorities accused him of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl when she was a senior back in 2005.
"We entrust our schools with our children and we expect them to be a safe place. And when you have a predator, it's like letting a fox loose in the hen house," Weintraub said.
The DA says an investigation shows Elvey was 27 when he allegedly had sex with the student at his home several times.
Eyewitness News went to his Yardley home Wednesday to ask about the allegations, but no one answered.

But people who live in the New Hope-Solebury district had plenty to say.
"I think that's an abuse of his authority as a teacher," New Hope resident Natasha Seas said.
"If it did happen, it's definitely wrong," New Hope resident Thomas Grant said.
Investigators also want to talk to any other people who think they were sexually assaulted by Elvey.
"If somebody themselves, were victimized and wants to come forward -- but if anyone knows of information involving another victim, we'd like to hear from them as well," Weintraub said.
Elvey was arraigned Wednesday and released on an unsecured bail.
If convicted, he could spend up to five years in prison.
