Bucks County Dog Found In Oregon Reunited With Owners

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A dog that wandered from its Bucks County home all the way to Oregon was reunited with her owners late Tuesday night at Philadelphia International Airport. Gigit, the Jack Russell Terrier, was found thanks to a tracking chip made by Pet Link, who actually paid for the dog to be flown home. But it wasn't the smoothest of reunions.
After making it nearly 3,000 miles from her Upper Southampton home, Gigit was a lot closer to her old stomping grounds when she got off the plane at Philadelphia International around 11 p.m. But as she was let loose for a picture perfect reunion her family, Gigit decided to make one last dash for freedom. A 20-minute chase through Cargo City ensued, but eventually, Gigit was back in owner Diane Hartkorn's arms, and she couldn't be happier.
"Fantastic - a second time!" Hartkorn said.
Gigit went missing on April 24th, and Hartkorn says they searched high and low, but eventually gave up hope. The soon to be 8-year-old Jack Russell Terrier was found in Washington County, Oregon, and through a Pet Link tracking chip, a shelter was able to find her owners.
"I thank everybody for their outpouring and support," Hartkorn said.
She also urged other pet owners to get the chip.
"Keep the information up to date every year. This is proof it works," she said.
