Bucks County Brand Partners With Nonprofit Just In Time For Veteran's Day
YARDLEY, Pa. (CBS) – A Bucks County pet product company is partnering with an organization that pairs war veterans with shelter dogs, just in time for Veteran's Day.
Yardley brand PetArmor, which focuses on making veterinarian-quality products more affordable to pet owners, is working with California-based nonprofit Operation Freedom Paws on a new social media initiative in honor of Veteran's Day.
The two organizations first joined up in September, when the CEO of FidoPharm – the maker of PetArmor – Alex Kaufman captured video of the work that Operation Freedom Paws does firsthand.
"Through the video we see how the dogs and veterans train together and ultimately save each other. Over the next few weeks we will be promoting the video and Operation Freedom Paws through our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and blogger outreach to generate awareness of this incredible organization," Kaufman said.
The Yardley company is hoping that by doing so, they'll help to raise awareness for the work that Operation Freedom Paws does to help both veterans and animals. Additionally, the company aims to generate support for the nonprofit's executive director, Mary Cortani, who has been named one of one of CNN's Top 10 Heroes and is now vying for the title of CNN's "Hero of the Year" for 2012.
"Mary's commitment to using shelter dogs in her program demonstrates the incredible resilience of these dogs and their desire to love and serve," Kaufman said. "We believe strongly in the mission and vision of Operation Freedom Paws and we are honored to help protect the dogs, which are protecting our military heroes who have protected our freedom."
