Bruce Weber Fired
By Adam Hoge -
INDIANAPOLIS (CBS) -- Two sources confirmed to 670 The Score that Illinois head coach Bruce Weber was fired Friday morning.
Athletic director Mike Thomas has called a press conference for 11 a.m. CT where the firing will become official.
The move has been expected for nearly a month since 670 The Score reported that key boosters made it clear to Thomas that Weber's $3.9 million buyout should not stand in the way of making a change.
At one point this season, the Illini were in first place in the Big Ten at 4-1. They finished the season by losing 12 of their last 14 games, however, including Thursday's second-half collapse against Iowa in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Weber leaves Illinois after nine years with a 210-101 overall record and an 89-66 Big Ten record
