Bruce Springsteen's First Car Up For Auction On Ebay

By Tom Bogert

Bruce Springsteen's first car,  a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air, personifies The Boss. It's cool, suave while its optics breathed the hint of danger, though you'd have no second thoughts about hopping in.

Now you can own this piece of Springsteen history, as the car is up for sale (again). Springsteen first bought it for an granular fraction of what it has sold and will sell for.

Allegedly, this convertible was the venue in which Springsteen wrote iconic hits 'Thunder Road' and 'Backstreets'. Even if that's folklore, he authentically did own it which ostensibly is more than good enough for fans.

"In '70s New Jersey, the car was still a powerful image," Springsteen wrote in his book 'Songs', via Asbury Park Press. "That summer I bought my first set of wheels for $2,000. It was a '57 Chevy with dual, four-barrel carbs, a Hurst on the floor and orange flames spread across the hood."

In 2011, his first set of wheels was sold by GottaHaveIt.com for a substantial $468,000 to an unidentified buyer. You can virtually run over to eBay and place your bid on it, though the bidding has gone north of $100,000.

According to the release, the car is ready to run on the streets if the buyer so desires.

"The car is in great running condition since the electrical and mechanical systems have been overhauled; the body and frame are untouched just the way it was when Bruce owned it."

Bidding expires Monday, December 19 at 11:50 p.m., so you've got time to move some finances around to free up the excess cash.
