Bristol Township Providing Free Water, Packaged Meals To Hard-Pressed Residents

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- As of this morning, more than half of Bristol Township (Bucks County) was still without power after Hurricane Sandy moved through Monday night.
Today, the township continued giving out free bottled water and meals-ready-to-eat for those affected by the storm.
Car after car pulled into the senior center next to the Bristol Township Municipal Building, where Red Cross workers were giving out bottled water and MREs.
Many here haven't had electricity since Monday night. Township emergency management director Kevin Dippolito says the federally-procured provisions are available to anyone who needs them.
"If they're trying to get their home back in order, get the tree off the car, get the tree off the house, a five-minute drive to us versus a 20-minute drive to an area with power," Dippolito advises. "If it makes their life a little bit easier, that's great."
Shannon Kline of Bristol Township picked up her water and MREs -- especially appreciated, she says, because PECO told her her power won't be back until Saturday night.
She has been missing one staple during this prolinged power outage, though: "Coffee! I have five kids!"
Dippolito says the provisions will be available until 6pm tonight and again tomorrow from 8am until 6pm, while supplies last.
