Brian Boucher On Flyers: 'Better Days Are Down The Road'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The quest for the Cup begins tonight.

The Flyers open the 2014-15 season tonight in Boston against the Bruins. Former Flyers goalie and new CSN Philadelphia Flyers analyst Brian Boucher joined the 94WIP Morning Show Wednesday in-studio to discuss the upcoming season.

"I think they made some strides last year," Boucher told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show. "Obviously it was a tough start last year at the beginning and now [Craig] Berube's got a chance to have this team ready from day one which is good. I think [Steve] Mason had a very strong season last year. I think he proved himself as a bonafide number one goaltender in the NHL again. Certainly I think their better days are down the road a bit. We're talking about prospects down on the Phantoms on the defensive side. So, certainly I think there's some good days ahead, but in the NHL today I mean like if you get playing well at the right time of the year and you get confidence, you just never know. I think the parity is there. Certainly your top four, five teams are going to be your favorites, but after that you just don't know."

Should Flyers fan be excited for the new season?

"Well if you're a hockey fan you should be excited, because hockey is going to be back on TV," said Boucher.
