Breast Cancer Rates In U.S. Continue To Rise
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The incidence of breast cancer in America is up. But so is progress.
The rates are rising dramatically in fighting breast cancer, but challenges remain. Dr. Ari Brook of Drexel Medicine says in the world of breast cancer, there are haves and have-nots.
"The inner city populations and the populations of patients who are more at risk - illegal immigrants, people who are uninsured etc. - they don't have access to the great system that we have, that we take for granted for all insured women around the country. So these people are presenting at more advanced stages - states 3 and 4 - and it makes it a harder fight in those patients."
