2 Officers Stable After North Philadelphia Auto Accident, Suspect Apprehended

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Officials in Philadelphia say two 25th District police officers were severely injured when their car collided with a civilian vehicle.

According to police, the officers were pursuing the stolen vehicle when they crashed into a jeep near the intersection of Broad Street and Hunting Park just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police say the female officer, who was driving, sustained head, neck, knee and arm injuries and the other officer, a male, sustained two possibly broken legs and two broken arms. Both are listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.

The people in the jeep were not injured.

The identity of the officers involved has not yet been released.

Two suspects in the car theft ran from the scene, but one male was apprehended by police at the intersection of 16th and Wingohocking Street.
