Boy Who Bought Lunch For Officers Gets His Own Police Cruiser
WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- A boy who bought lunch for some New Jersey officers earlier this month was surprised with his very own police cruiser.
The Winslow Township Police Department made 5-year-old William Evertz an honorary officer, giving the young boy a police badge after he bought sandwiches out his own allowance and dropped them off to "his heroes" on the force.
But the department didn't stop there. To repay the act of kindness, they gave their friend his very own police cruiser.
The surprise was all captured on video. Evertz waits excitedly with his mom as sirens whir and a fleet of cars pull up outside of his house.
He helps Lt. George Smith open the back of one of the vehicles to unveil the miniature replica of a Winslow Township Police car, complete with sirens.
The 5-year-old checks out his new set of wheels and then took his new car for a spin!
