PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A four-year-old boy is recovering at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia after falling from a third story window in Bella Vista.
Police say around 10:30 Thursday night, a driver on the 1100 block of Bainbridge Street reported seeing a child alone next to a home.
"Upon police arrival, they found a four-year-old boy who was on the side of his house. He was on the ground crying," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Medics transported him to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Police say the child was inside a bedroom he shares with his 12-year-old brother, who was also in the room at the time of the fall.
"For some unknown reason at this time, the boy fell through the screen," said Small. "The screen actually fell out of the window."
Philadelphia's Special Victims unit is investigating, per police protocol.
"But it looks at this point, like this was just an accident," said Small.
The boy is listed in stable condition.
Police say he suffered bumps and bruises and possibly a fractured wrist.
