Both Suspects Wanted For Cab Driver Stabbing In Police Custody
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Both suspects have now been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a Philadelphia cab driver.
Twenty-one-year-old Luis Moreno was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery and related charges in connection to the incident, which happened around 1:15 a.m. Monday at Front and Christian Streets in Queen Village. Alejandro Gonzalez, a 22-year-old male, was also arrested at his residence on 9th Street. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery and related charges.
Authorities say the taxi driver, who is now recovering from his injuries, pulled over to let two men out of his cab. As they stood by the driver's side window, one of the men pretended to be getting money out his wallet and that's when the second man began stabbing the driver. The first man then pulled a knife and also started stabbing the driver.
Police say the 37-year-old cab driver was stabbed 11 times before he was able to wrestle away a knife from one of the suspects and turn it on his attackers.
Investigators say the two men ran off with around $200.
The taxi driver managed to drive to Front and South Streets, where he flagged down police, who nabbed one suspect nearby.
