Bones Found In Kentucky Storage Unit May Be Connected To Del. Cold Case
CORBIN, Ky. (CBS) – WKYT is reporting that investigators believe bones found in a storage unit in Kentucky may be connected to a cold case out of Delaware from 1997.
Police say the bones were discovered inside the unit after it was auctioned off and the new owners were in the midst of cleaning it out.
Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley tells the station that the bones were human bones:
They were human bones and until we can scientifically and medically prove more about the individual, we really want to withhold that information," he says. "At this point we are trying to determine, one, who the individual was, the age, the race and the stature of the person, as well as know a little bit more about the individual that is renting itself."
Officials say the case in question involves missing woman Doris Anne Wood, who disappeared from Delaware in 1997. Her husband, Robert Wood, was questioned at the time but was never charged. Robert Wood reportedly had a family member in Kentucky.
Croley says the bones are being sent to Frankfort to be tested and a death investigation has been started. He also says that based on the way the bones were found, he automatically felt this was a homicide.
