Body Found Wrapped In Tarp On West Philadelphia Sidewalk

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say they found a body of an unidentified man wrapped in a tarp with a plastic bag over his head in West Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

The body of the unidentified African-American male was found about 8 a.m. on a sidewalk in front of an empty lot in the 5100 block of Warren Street in West Philadelphia.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body turned over to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Police had no immediate suspects and no motive.

Wednesday morning's discovery marks the city's 28th homicide this year.

Philadelphia homicide detectives are investigating.
