Body Found In Wilmington, Police Not Saying If It's Of Missing Woman

By Kim Glovas and Todd Quinones

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- A Wilmington woman disappeared Monday morning while walking her dog. Now, police say a body has been found on a road just blocks from the woman's home.

65-year-old Marsha Lee's disappearance is shrouded in speculation as neighbors ponder what happened.

At around 9 a.m., at the intersection of Lowell Road and Matson Run Parkway, a witness told police he heard screeching tires, then saw a man in his thirties putting something in the driver's side rear door of a red Hummer before driving off.

Lee left her home in the morning to take her dog for a walk. Her husband reported her missing about an hour later when the dog returned home alone.

Pieces of Lee's clothing were found at the intersection about a block away from her home. Neighbors say Lee has two grown daughters.

At about 9 p.m., Wilmington Police, along with the assistance of the Delaware State Police, reported that crews searching the area near Brandywine Hills located the body of a female in a Del Dot lot off of Rockwood Rd., near I-95.

The identity of the deceased female has not yet been confirmed, nor has a cause of death.

In a significant development Monday night, police tracked down a red hummer with tinted windows, which matched the description of the vehicle involved in the apparent abduction.

Police tell Eyewitness News police pulled the driver over on Lea Blvd., just blocks away from where it's believed the 65-year-old was walking her dog in the Brandywine Hills neighborhood.

Forensic officers along with detectives from both agencies were at the scene investigating.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of the Marsha Lee is urged to contact Wilmington Police Detective Scott Chaffin at 302-576-3682.
