Blood Drive To Honor Bucks County Man Who Donated Organs

JAMISON, Pa. (CBS) -- A Bucks County woman is spearheading a blood drive to "give back" following her son's death.
Brett Stebulis, 22, died in 2008, the result of a car accident. But before he did, he was given 102 units of blood to keep his organs alive so they could be donated to save others.
Brett's heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, corneas and tissue were donated, giving new life to grateful recipients.
His mother, Barbara, of Ivyland Borough, later had the chance to meet the man now living with her son's heart.
"It was amazing," she tells KYW Newsradio. "They couldn't have matched the families more perfectly if they had a template. (The recipient) is so soft-spoken and he's so happy. We're not looking for the gratitude -- we wanted to know that Darren's okay, and he is. He's doing great."
Now, Barbara wants to replace all the blood needed to keep Brett alive so his organs and tissue could be harvested. The blood drive is Friday, May 9th, from 11am until 9pm at the Warwick Township Fire Company, on York Road in Jamison.
