BLOG: March Madness

By Steve Strouss

March came in like a lamb with sunshine and mild temperatures, but tomorrow will feel more like the lion. A cold front will usher in much colder temperatures and wind chills Thursday morning will be in the teens in many locations.

After a high in the 50s today, the mercury will struggle to climb out of the 30s Thursday but the cold air will be short lived. A warm front will bump temperatures back up into the 50s by the weekend so the roller coaster ride of wild temperature swings continues.

These temperature battles are not uncommon during March. In fact, you may already know that this is a big reason why March is the windiest month of the year. Also, if you were curious, the average high temperature March 1st is 46 degrees and by the end of the month the average high is 57.

Spring officially begins in just 18 days but don't count out the threat for snow just yet. The average March snowfall in Philadelphia is around 3 inches.
